SPEAKER_00: The ember pulsed quietly within him, not violently anymore, not like before.

SPEAKER_00: Kairo nodded, yes, but he still fears it.
SPEAKER_00: Tani Ninja opened his eyes.
SPEAKER_00: I can feel it now, he said quietly.
SPEAKER_00: Akari stepped down into the training circle, then stopped trying to hold it.

SPEAKER_00: If I don't control it You think it will control you?
SPEAKER_00: she said.
SPEAKER_00: Tiny Ninja didn't answer.
SPEAKER_00: That silence was enough.
SPEAKER_00: Akari stepped closer.
SPEAKER_00: The ember reflects what's already inside you.
SPEAKER_00: Tiny Ninja looked at her carefully.
SPEAKER_00: And what if what's inside me isn't stable?
SPEAKER_00: Akari's eyes softened slightly.
SPEAKER_00: Then neither is the ember.
SPEAKER_00: Akari removed her blade slowly and placed it against the stone.
SPEAKER_00: Tiny ninja looked surprised.
SPEAKER_00: No weapons?
SPEAKER_00: Akari shook her head.
SPEAKER_00: Not today.
SPEAKER_00: She stepped into position.
SPEAKER_00: Today you learn awareness.
SPEAKER_00: Tani Ninja smirked slightly.
SPEAKER_00: That sounds less painful.
SPEAKER_00: Akari almost smiled.
SPEAKER_00: You'll see.
SPEAKER_00: Close your eyes, she said.
SPEAKER_00: Tiny ninja obeyed.
SPEAKER_00: Listen.
SPEAKER_00: The rain.
SPEAKER_00: The water.
SPEAKER_00: The leaves shifting.
SPEAKER_00: Distant footsteps.
SPEAKER_00: Breathing.
SPEAKER_00: Heartbeat.

SPEAKER_00: A pulse beneath all of it.
SPEAKER_00: Tiny ninja's brow tightened slightly.
SPEAKER_00: I hear it.
SPEAKER_00: Akari circled him slowly.
SPEAKER_00: What do you hear?
SPEAKER_00: Movement.
SPEAKER_00: No.
SPEAKER_00: Her voice came softly from behind him.
SPEAKER_00: Connection.
SPEAKER_00: Without warning, Akari attacked.
SPEAKER_00: Tani Ninja reacted instantly, stepping aside before he consciously processed the movement.
SPEAKER_00: His eyes opened.
SPEAKER_00: Akari stopped inches from him.
SPEAKER_00: Good, she said quietly.
SPEAKER_00: Tani Ninja stared at her.
SPEAKER_00: I didn't even think.
SPEAKER_00: Akari nodded.

SPEAKER_00: Ashara leaned against one of the sanctuary pillars watching.
SPEAKER_00: Alright, she called out.
SPEAKER_00: That was impressive.
SPEAKER_00: Tani Ninja glanced over.
SPEAKER_00: Ashara smirked.
SPEAKER_00: But let's see how spiritual enlightenment handles real pressure.
SPEAKER_00: Akare raised an eyebrow.
SPEAKER_00: You're volunteering?
SPEAKER_00: Ashara cracked her neck slightly.
SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00: The rain intensified.
SPEAKER_00: The rebellion gathered nearby to watch.

SPEAKER_00: Ashara attacked harder now, faster.
SPEAKER_00: Tanyininja closed his eyes briefly, not fully, just enough.
SPEAKER_00: The ember pulsed, and suddenly everything slowed.

SPEAKER_00: He could feel movement before it happened, intent before action, emotion before aggression.

SPEAKER_00: Taninija stepped through the strike effortlessly, disarmed her, and stopped his blade at her shoulder.
SPEAKER_00: There was silence.
SPEAKER_00: Rain falling softly around them.
SPEAKER_00: Ashara blinked once.
SPEAKER_00: I hate training arcs.
SPEAKER_00: The Rabyan laughed quietly.
SPEAKER_00: Even Tani Ninja smiled.
SPEAKER_00: But Akari didn't smile.
SPEAKER_00: She stared at Tani Ninja carefully, because she recognized what just happened and how fast it happened.
SPEAKER_00: Kairo noticed her concern.
SPEAKER_00: You see it too.
SPEAKER_00: Akari nodded slowly.
SPEAKER_00: He's synchronizing faster than he should.
SPEAKER_00: Tani Ninja looked between them.

SPEAKER_00: Later that night the sanctuary was calm again.
SPEAKER_00: Tani Ninja sat beside the water channels, running through the ruins.

SPEAKER_00: Then Tani Ninja asked, Why do you keep looking at me like that?
SPEAKER_00: Akari leaned back slightly.
SPEAKER_00: Because you're becoming something I've never seen before.
SPEAKER_00: Tani Ninja looked away briefly.
SPEAKER_00: That doesn't sound reassuring.
SPEAKER_00: Akari gave a faint smile.
SPEAKER_00: It isn't.
SPEAKER_00: Rain continued lightly around them.
SPEAKER_00: Tani Ninja looked toward the glowing sanctuary symbols.
SPEAKER_00: You really think I can do this?
SPEAKER_00: Akari studied him for a long moment, then softly.
SPEAKER_00: I think you already are.
SPEAKER_00: Tiny Ninja looked at her, and for the first time neither of them looked away.
SPEAKER_00: The silence between them no longer felt uncertain.

SPEAKER_00: Far beyond the forest, the Dominion scanner drone hovered silently above the canopy, not enough to locate the sanctuary, but enough to detect something impossible.

SPEAKER_00: Confirmation probability increasing, sanctuary anomaly detected.
SPEAKER_00: Deploy hunter class reconnaissance.
SPEAKER_00: Back within the sanctuary, Tanunda stood alone beneath the falling rain.
SPEAKER_00: He closed his eyes again.
SPEAKER_00: The ember moved through him effortlessly now, not fighting, not resisting, flowing.
